FAQ’s

How do I schedule an appointment?

Send an email to philhonconsulfl@gmail.com and specify which service is needed. The requirements and a link to schedule an appointment will be sent to you.

I was told I need to get an APOSTILLE. Does the Consulate do this?

The Consulate does not do Apostille, but legalization/notarization at the Consulate in Jacksonville, FL. In 2019, the Philippines became an official member of the Apostille Convention and added the ability to have Philippine documents processed via the APOSTILLE process.

An APOSTILLE is an alternative to authenticate your documents by MAIL for use in the Philippines, eliminating the need to travel to the Philippine Embassy or Consulate in Jacksonville, Florida.

For APOSTILLE, you will need to:

1. Have your documents notarized by a local notary public in your area

2. Complete the Florida Department of State’s Apostille and Notarial Certificate Request Form

3. Mail your original documents, identification and Florida Department of State Apostille and Notarial Certificate Request Form to Tallahassee.  The process may take up to 2 weeks, after which time the documents and APOSTILLE CERTIFICATE will be mailed back to you.

As the Philippines is now an official member of the Apostille Convention, there are now two primary options for notarizing private documents for use in the Philippines: (1) by notarization at the Philippine Embassy , Philippine Consulate or (2) through the Apostille process.

All countries and territories under the Embassy’s jurisdiction, except Haiti, are members of the Apostille Convention. This means that a document bearing an apostille certificate from these countries will be recognized in the Philippines.

The designated competent authority can issue apostille certificates for private documents, government-issued documents, and business-related documents.
